Tyre Manufacturers - Michelin Tyres

Welcome to Tuna Garage in Keyworth. On this page we would like to tell you a bit more about the tyre manufacturer Michelin.

The French company Michelin has been a quality producer of car tyres, for more than 125 years. The company produces summer tyres, winter tyres and all-season tyres for cars and many other vehicle types. On our Tuna Garage website, you will find the best Michelin tyres at the most competitive prices.

Michelin: big in tyres

Michelin is the second largest tyre company in the world. Since it was founded in 1889 by André and Édouard Michelin, it is still a family business. In the year 1999 Édouard Michelin took over the management of his father François Michelin. Shareholders of the group have no direct control. The family still determines everything. Perhaps that is the secret of their ongoing success.

Michelin also owned the French car manufacturer Citroën in the past. Now the company is fully focused on the production of tyres. Michelin tyres are being fitted to new cars all over the world. But even bigger is the replacement market for Michelin tyres. This tyre giant produces around 170 million tyres (!) per year and they do so with 110,000 members of staff.

Famous is of course also the mascot of Michelin: the famous Michelin man, which you will not only encounter on the Michelin tyres but also on maps and restaurants guides with Michelin stars - also a Michelin invention. Few people know that he is actually called "Bibendum".

Michelin summer tyres

Michelin offers a wide range of summer tyres. For passenger cars, for SUVs, for lorries and for special vehicles for agriculture, for example. Michelin summer tyres excel in safety on both wet and dry roads. They are known to drain off the excess water quickly, which prevents aquaplaning as much as possible. The rubber mixes used by Michelin for its summer tyres are of the highest level. As a result, Michelin summer tyres always offer a lot of grip in all conditions. No surprise that Michelin is the number one choice of many car manufacturers.

The advantages of Michelin winter tyres

In the period from October to March you can best choose Michelin winter tyres. In this period it is often wet and cold. Winter tyres from Michelin have a custom profile and a special rubber compound that is adapted to the weather conditions. Winter tyres, therefore, offer more grip and a shorter braking distance at temperatures below 7 degrees Celsius. The handling is better due to the softer rubber used. In addition, the slats in the profile offer extra grip. All in all, you can count on a large portion of extra safety for you, your passengers and your fellow road users. An additional advantage of using winter tyres is that you save your summer tyres. These last much longer if you drive on winter tyres during the cold period.

Michelin All-season tyres

The Michelin CrossClimate deserves a special mention. This is an all-season or 4-season tyre of an exceptionally high class, as only Michelin can make.

A revolutionary car tyre that delivers exceptional performance both in summer and in winter. This is possible thanks to the unique combination of technology for summer tyres and winter tyres in one tyre. The snowflake symbol on the tyre is your guarantee that this Michelin tyre can also withstand harsh conditions in the winter. In countries where winter tyres are mandatory in winter, you can also ride with the Michelin CrossClimate. It took Michelin several years to develop this tyre, but the reactions from both car manufacturers and motorists are full of praise. Really a tyre that is interesting for people who do not feel like changing tyres twice a year and who do not want to worry about whether they have the right tyre for the right weather type.

The Michelin Pilot Sport 3 is particularly popular with drivers who regularly drive long distances. It produces little noise, and the predictable and precise behaviour contributes to a relaxed journey. On straight sections, the braking distance is shortened by up to 3 meters with the Michelin Pilot Sport 3. In bends, this tire ensures excellent road holding.

Manufacturer Michelin has brought together its years of experience with the Le Mans endurance races in this tyre. It is not a coincidence that the Michelin Pilot Sport 3 has already won 15 consecutive victories during the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The Michelin Energy Saver Plus naturally stands indeed for energy saving. But on other points too, this summer tyre performs above average and - compared with its predecessor - better than ever before. This way the Michelin Energy Saver Plus has become safer again, it lasts even longer and uses less fuel. A new tread makes more contact with the road surface, giving you more grip on the road - in dry and wet weather. It is clear that the Michelin Energy Saver Plus is not only more comfortable but also safer.

This was only a short description of some of the tyres Michelin produces. There are many more fantastic tyres available from this brand.
